The Hope Set Before Us

The Hope Set Before Us

Pedophilia is a daily struggle. There are always feelings that go in the wrong direction, and you’re faced with the choice of where to let your mind go. The decision to honor God with your sexuality is a daily victory.

Daily victories are good, because together, they equal a lifetime of victory. However, it’s easy to get weary in the journey, when all we see is the struggle. Let’s lift our eyes and remember who God is to us.

Psalm 103:1-5

Praise the Lord, my soul;
All my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the Lord, my soul,
And forget not all his benefits—

Who forgives all your sins

If we are walking with Jesus, you and I don’t need to carry the weight of our past mistakes. Jesus died so we can be forgiven once and for all.

And heals all your diseases

God will deal with each trouble in our lives. He will either set us free, or help us have victory over it.

Who redeems your life from the pit (of destruction)

God will hold you up. Even if you stumble, he won’t let you tumble headlong (Ps. 37:24). He won’t let the pit have you.

And crowns you with love and compassion

God always has a gentle touch when he deals with you, even in discipline. You are God’s kid, and you’re precious to him.

Who satisfies your desires with good things

God will bring good things into your life! He knows you need intimacy, and he can bring that in a healthy way. He isn’t beat by pedophilia. Our lives can be wonderful stories of his love.

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s

This point especially. There is a tomorrow for you – a hope set before you. This struggle with pedophilia isn’t the end. It won’t be the defining feature of your life. God has so much in store for you. In this life, you will make a difference for good. You will stand for what’s right in your own life and in the lives of others, because Jesus is your Savior. And God’s Spirit is with you and in you (Jn 14:17).

God has plans in mind for you (Jer 29:11). He is a good Father, and has dreams for his kids. That includes you. You have a purpose, and he will lead you in the way to go.

When you start to feel weary, just remember all that God has done for you. And, you can rest assured he is working in your life right now.

Spend today with God, and keep your hands in his. Honor him with your sexuality as best you can, and trust him to help you grow. You and I can grab hold of “this hope set before us”, and find the courage to press on (Heb 6:18).
