Adopted by God

Did you know that God wants to adopt you? That’s a big deal to me, because I have some ugly streaks. God knows each of us better than anybody, and still loves us! And, his love has commitment. God wants to make you his own son or daughter.

Will you accept? You have a choice whether you want him to be your father. I can tell you that it’s really great to have someone love you without any shame. It seems that many pedophiles feel like their childhood was covered in shame! Perhaps there was abuse, early discovery of pornography, or isolation. Most go through life feeling unloved, tarnished, and dirty.

A pedophile often admires the innocence and joy of a child. Do you wish that you were innocent again, accepted, and excited about life? Do you wish there was someone who would claim you as their own? Often, we adults have inner wounds that bring us back to the place of being a child again. God still sees you as a child (you could be 95 years old and still be a child to him). He wants to adopt you.

But, what about all the evil things we’ve done? How can the guilt be washed away, and can we ever be innocent again? The truth is that because of our sins, we deserve punishment and rejection by God. But Jesus, God’s own son, did something unthinkable. He died in our place and took our punishment, so that we could be forgiven!

God wanted it that way, and Jesus loved us enough to go through with it. But, death couldn’t hold Jesus. God raised his son back to life, and now nothing stands in the way… you can come to God like a little child, and say, “Abba, Father!” He will take you into his arms and never let go.

There will still be challenges in life, but God will face it with you; you won’t feel like an orphan anymore. God is a good father, and he’ll watch over you. He’ll strengthen you, help you, and uphold you. You can be an innocent child in your father’s house – full of love, joy, and peace.

It’s real. There’s still the ups and downs of everyday life, but to be adopted by God is truly wonderful. It’s hard to put into words.

If you want God to adopt you, it’s very simple. He’s already paid the price and settled the matter in court. You just have to say, “Yes”. You, the child, still have a choice.

It’s as simple as this: “God, I want you to be my father, and I want to be your child. I know that I can come to you, because of what Jesus did. Please, I want to spend my life with you.”

And, that’s just the start of something amazing.
